The State Hermitage

St. Alexander Nevsky Monastery

St. Alexander Nevsky Monastery

One of the biggest orthodox monasteries in Russia, was founded by Peter I on the place of the supposed battle with Swedish troops in XIII century. The necropolis of the monastery is the place of burial of the greatest people of art and science, such as mathematician Leonhard Euler, composer Peter Chaikovsky and writer Fyodor Dostoevsky.
